Today I spent all day in my pink flannel nightgown. I was not the one who had a baby, but I feel as if I am recovering from having one! Certainly not the physical, birth canal part, but the worn out, staying up with the baby and dopey from lack of sleep part. I stayed with Tara in the hospital with Tara the last 2 and a half days since Scarlett was born. It was our first Mother/Daughter sleepover!!! I loved being able to be there for Tara, but it took it's toll on me.
Thus being in my nightie all today. I slept a lot. I sat on the couch. I took naps... then I pulled myself out of that mode for long enough to have a bath with Derek!!! We have a great time in the tub, he loves to splash and throw his toys. He has some little monster toys that squirt water, and we have a giggly time squirting everywhere with them. I washed his hair, washed him all up, we laughed and played, then he stood up and peed n the water... I said to him, "Well, you know what that means, don't you, Derek?" and he gave me a sort of resigned look, and we got out of the bath and I dried him off then baby-lotioned him all up. He took off before I had the chance to lotion myself and get into my nightgown, so after he ran downstairs the questions from his Mommy and Daddy to him were " Where are your clothes, Derek?' and " What are you doing all naked??" I figured it would be better for him to be naked for a few minutes than for me to chase him immediately in my own naked state! There are some things everybody does not need to see!!!
Right now it is pretty peaceful, Derek the Wildcat is being lulled to sleep upstairs by his Father and the movie Cars- his standby favorite. Tara is cradling Scarlett against her and nursing her. I am doing this on the computer and together we are watching one of our favorite shows on tv, "HOARDERS, BURIED ALIVE." There is some morbid and self righteous satisfaction in watching these people who are living in deplorable conditions because of their addiction to things. It always make me want to get up and do something, like clean out a drawer or organize the medicine cabinet. But I control those urges and lay down until they go away.
